žFederation of World Youth Akita
Under the supervision of Akita City Board of Education, the Federation of World Youth Akita was established on 28th February 1994 as a volunteer group with the purpose of international exchange, friendship and cooperation. The federation was established after dissolution of gGerman Friend of Akitah which was the social assembly of people participated to gAkita City Youth Study Tours in Foreign Countriesh. At the emergency meeting of 27th November 2004, the federation made a decision to change the registered name in Japanese to the present name (English name stayed as before).
FWY Akita is also an alumni association of participants who went to the study tours via World Youth Visit Exchange Association and there are about 30 FWYs in Japan. (gAkita City Youth Study Tours in Foreign Countriesh were delegated to World Youth Visit Exchange Association).
The federation is called gFederation of World Youth Akitah in English and the abbreviation is gFWY Akitah.
At the moment, there are about 80 members and they are between the age of 20s -80s in the professions of company employees, public servants, teachers, medical doctors, layers and self-employees etc.
We organize activities under the supervision and support of Akita City Board of Education and Planning and Coordination Division of Akita City.
žRegulation of the Federation of World Youth Akita (Abstract)
Article 2 (Purpose) : With the cooperation of Akita City, Akita City Board of Education, and Japan International Cooperation Agency, the Federation aims to contribute to the society by prompting international friendship and exchange, and good communication between the federation members.
Article 3 (Membership): The membership is given to the following people.
1. People who participated to the study tours of Akita City gAkita City Youth Study Tours in Foreign Countriesh
2. People who has interests in international exchange and agrees with the purpose of our activities.
Article 4 (Activities): The federation organizes activities in order to achieve the aims given in the Article 2.
Article 10 (Budget): The budget of the federation comes from the membership fee, donation and other income source. The annual membership fee is \1,000, but students under high school are discharged.
žActivities of Federation of World Youth Akita
We are involved in Youth Invitation Program of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). We host youth groups from all over the world invited to Japan under this JICA program and we are in charge of program planning, escorting, and coordinating homestay program while the group stays in Akita.

EAt a snow festival called gWarashikko no yuki matsurih (Snow Festival of Children), we organize a game session called gInternational Exchange: Snow-fighting targeting on a Namahage Ogreh in the purpose of exchange with local foreign residence. We donate the proceeds to Japan Committee gVaccines for the World's Childrenh.
EWe organize exchange activities with gA-JETh which is an association of ALTs (Assistant Language Teachers who come from foreign countries and teach English at Junior High Schools and High Schools in Akita Prefecture). One of the main activities with them is to organize and operate clean-up activities on Shimohama Beach for the Earth Day (22nd April) and clean the beach before and/or after the Earth Day.
EWe are involved in recruiting applicants for the gAkita City Youth Study Tours in Foreign Countriesh and organizing send-off meeting for those participants.
E We have debriefing session after activities.
EWe are the member of International Exchange Network of Akita International Association.
EWe have active communication with FWYs in other prefectures.
